Captain Antonin F. Alain

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Captain Antonin F. Alain on August 8, 2016. Antonin passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at Notre-Dame-De-La-Merci Palliative Care House in Montreal, at the age of 82.

In life, Captain Alain was well surrounded and closely supported by his three children, Sophie (Roland Colpron), Claude (Lucie Charron), Caroline, and five grandchildren, Olivier, Maxim, Benjamin, Sébastien and Samuelle.

Captain Alain retired from Air Canada in 1992 after 34 years and 11 months of service. He flew the DC-3, North Star, Super Constellation, Viscount, DC-8, Vanguard, DC-9, L-1011, B-727, and B-767.

Antonin Alain began his career in the Royal Canadian Navy by being one of the first French Canadians to fly on the aircraft carrier HMCS Magnificent, nicknamed The Maggie. He flew the Harvard and the Avenger aircraft.

After his retirement from Air Canada, Antonin Alain spent his summers cruising his own Cessna 172 Skyhawk plane with his family and friends. He also spent most of his time enjoying other passions, such as golfing and boating. In the winters, he took pleasure travelling to Barbados.

His amazing happiness, simplicity and strong lively force will be indefinitely part of his legacy.
