Donald (Don) Allen Logan

Age 74 of Courtenay BC, passed away peacefully at home as a result of a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis, Monday, August 14, 2017.

 
He is the last surviving member of his immediate family.
 
He was born June 10, 1943 in St. John, New Brunswick. He was the son of the late Allen Logan and the late Hazel (Tucker) Logan.
 
Don was brought up in his early years by his sister Helen Gunn.
 
Don joined the Navy at age 17. After three years serving in the Navy, he retired and operated a service station.  In 1965, Don enlisted in the RCAF initially as a radio operator. After three years in communications, Don reclassified to air crew. He then spent the rest of his career in various postings across Canada, ultimately settling in Comox BC.
 
Don’s passion for life included being very active in many sports. His particular loves were flying, sailing, and skiing. It is through those activities he has made the most friends and has taught many others of his love for those sports.
 
Don was a life member of the Courtenay Air Park, and a member of the 19 Wing Comox Yacht Club.
 
Don is survived by, and will be sadly missed by companion Karen Smit, children Bernadine (Doug) Leonard, Tracey (Nick) Antoft, Mark (Sandra) Logan, and Michele (Charles) Pichay-Hall. He is also survived by the children’s mother Hazel (Gaudet) Logan and many grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
