Daniel James Murphy

Danny, age 86 passed away peacefully on Sept 9th, 2016 at Parkstone Enhanced Care Facility with family by his side. Born in Kingston, Ontario, he was the son of the late Daniel Murphy (Montreal/Kingston) and Isabell Devine/Murphy (Kingston). In his youth, he enjoyed playing team sports and was a respected hockey and football player in Kingston. He lived in Dartmouth for most of his adult life. He worked for 15 years at the N.A.D. Fire Control Shop and retired in 1976 after 25 years from Navy Regiment R.C.N., C.F.B. Shearwater as an Aircraft Control Man and served on the flight decks of the H.M.C.S. Bonaventure and Magnificent as a Chief Petty Officer, 2nd Class. Danny's spare time passions were fishing and hunting with his partner Duke, his beautiful dog. He is survived by his sister Barbara Burgess of Red Deer Alberta and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Danny shared many interesting stories about his adventures with his cousin Bud Smith in Kingston. Besides his parents he was predeceased 12 years ago by the love of his life, Anne Lydia Murphy (Surette) of Eel Brook, N.S. They are together forever at last ??. We would like to thank the staff on Citadel Court, 2nd Floor at Parkstone for going above and beyond to provide comfort to Danny and his family in his final days. Your kindness and thoughtfulness will never be forgotten.
