Of Dartmouth, passed away March 29, 2019 in Ocean View Continuing Care. Born in Moncton, N.B., he was the son of the late Kirk and Margaret Atkinson. Eric loved his family and enjoyed time spent at the family cottage and family events surrounded by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dad proudly served 30 years in the Canadian Navy Air and IMP Aerospace after leaving the navy. Always keeping busy with his many interests; long serving member of the IOOF, watch repair, tole painting which he taught for many years. Eric is survived by his son, Kirk Atkinson (Gail Horne) and daughter, Margaret Coulter; grandchildren, Zachery Atkinson and Rose (Coyle), Kristal Atkinson, Chynna Coulter, Courtney Coulter, Logan Coulter; great-grandchildren, Felicity and Emily Atkinson, Ellie England. Eric was predeceased by his wife, Shirley (Edgett) and sister, Betty Anderson. A small family graveside service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the IWK Health Centre Foundation or Shearwater Aviation Museum. The family would like to thank the staff at Ocean View Continuing Care for the kindness and care they provided to our father. Dad always praised the great work you do. You will all have a special place in our hearts.
