It is with heavy hearts that the family of Francis David Conroy announces his passing on October 14, 2017 at the age of 85, in Halifax. He was predeceased by wife of 52 years, Shirley (Burke). Born in Port Hope, Ont., on November 23, 1932 to mother, Raine (Brooks) and father, Peter Kelly Conroy. Raised by his sisterin- law, Doris and brother, Joe. This generous act set the tone for his life where he devoted his heart to his family. A proud and carefree father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, no moment was wasted when he was in your company. He travelled extensively both in his Naval career (1951-1987) and with family. Based from Shearwater, he served on the Preserver, Magnificent and Bonaventure to name a few. Then, posted to California, he helped manufacture Canada’s 12 Aurora airplanes; retiring as Chief Warrant Officer in Greenwood. He loved camping, reading, football, hockey and family gatherings. His memory will live on in son, David; grandchildren, Ted (Janet), Jeff (Maria), Jennifer, Alicia, David Jr.; great-grandchildren, Nick, Julia, Emery, Ryan, Abbey, and Jake; as well as countless nieces and nephews. He will be lovingly remembered and terribly missed.
